Senior Management Team

Our Senior Management Team consists of our Chief Executive, Finance Director and two Assistant Directors. Meeting on a weekly basis the team drives forward the strategy of the Charity as agreed by our Trustees.

Our Senior Management Team is:

Barbara Duffy joined the Charity in April 2008 and worked as Assistant Director (Care Services) before being promoted to Chief Executive in December 2008 following the retirement of Mrs. Barbara Dove. Mrs. Duffy is a graduate in Law (LLB(Hons.)) and has a professional background in Health and Social Care, Management and education. She has worked as a qualified general nurse within the NHS, a Managing Director in the private sector and 11 years working in local government (as a Multi-Site Manager for respite and outreach services and, later, working in Staff Development). More recently, Barbara worked within the voluntary sector before joining Plymouth Age Concern.

Peter Tremlett joined the Charity as Managing Director in 1990 after 34 years in local government, culminating as Treasurer of South Hams District Council. He is a Chartered Public Finance Accountant and now works part-time as the Charity's Finance Director. Peter is also a Justice of the Peace, a keen supporter of the Salvation Army and a volunteer driver for the Charity.

Denise Gregson joined the Charity in 1993 with a brief to project manage the development of a Residential respite and Day Service for people with Dementia within the River View Centre. Shortly after, Denise became the Registered Manager of the service and continued to manage the River View Centre until her promotion to Assistant Director (Care Services) in January 2009. Prior to joining the Charity, Denise worked within the Mental Health Services, and following the enactment of the NHS and Community Care Act 1990, assisted patients in their transition from long stay hospital settings into the community. Her qualifications include an NVQ5 in Management and a Registered Managers Award. 

Nigel Backhouse joined the Charity in 2005 after successfully owning two businesses in IT consultancy and facilities management. He brought with him fifteen years experience of running two small/medium enterprises providing services for many blue chip companies. Nigel attained a Bachelors degree in computer studies and has recently attained an NVQ5 in Operational Management. He is currently studying for a Masters in Personnel and Development. During his career, Nigel attained a full complement of business management and administrative skills.
