Volunteer Befrienders

Last Updated: 20 Apr 2012

We are loking to recruit a new team of volunteers to provide befriending support to people living in the community. Please help us to make a real difference to someone who is lonely, isolated and desperately in need of your company.

Many people with community care needs are excluded in some way from particapting in social and community life. Befriending is one way older people can be supported to become fully involved in community life.

Befriending often provides people with a new direction in life, opens up a range of activities and leads to increased self-esteem and self confidence. Befriending provides companionship for older people, the chance to develop a new relationship and opportunities to participate in activities.

Are you......

  • Reliable and willing to commit to 2/3 hours each week?
  • Interested in supporting people and a good listener?
  • Willing to make a valuable contribution to your local community?

If you are interested, in return you will be....

  • rewarded by making a real difference in people's lives
  • developing your experience in community working, developing social and team skills
  • fully trained and supervision will be provided

Recruitment Process:

  • References and CRB are essential
  • We will be matching your similar interests with the older person who lives in your local area
